Aimee Says

Welcome to Aimee Says – a sanctuary of support and empowerment for survivors of domestic abuse. At Aimee Says, we are dedicated to helping individuals as they navigate the path towards safety and healing, not just for themselves but also for those they cherish.

Our Story

Aimee Says was born out of a realization and a resolution. Founders Steven Nichols and Anne Wintemute identified a critical challenge faced by survivors of domestic violence – the struggle to voice their experiences in a way that can rise above the often overpowering narrative of their abusers.

The scale of the problem left many without support. Human counselors, while passionate and dedicated, could never meet the needs of so many. The two asked, “could we leverage the capabilities of advanced AI to understand and respond to common power and control dynamics seen in abusive relationships?” Their goal was to see if this technology could offer relevant, empathetic responses to those seeking help.

While it was immediately evident that significant engineering and a deep understanding of the complexities of intimate partner violence were necessary, the potential for positive impact was undeniable. It was a journey they felt compelled to embark on.
